THE TONY WARREN COLLECTION
"FALMOUTH BORN PAINTER OF SHIPS AND THE SEA"
Born in 1930 Tony Warren lived out his life on the Falmouth waterfront. He first studied drawing and painting at the local school of art from the age of 9 years.Nearly twenty years followed with local builders and decorators where the young artist was taught colour mixing and gilding leading to work as a sign writer. He was commissioned by the RNLI to paint names on Lifeboats and remembered with sadness painting "Solomon Browne"for the last time on the Penlee Lifeboat.
Tony began painting professionally in 1978 working from a little studio next to the Custom House in Falmouth. The studio became a mecca for all those who shared his love of ships and the sea.
Tony had a simple painting philosophy;he painted as he saw it.He had no great love of abstract or self indulgence and obscurity in a painting.
Tony died in 1994.His original paintings hang on walls in homes and in countless ships cabins all over the world.
