TYSKENNOW KERNOW

TYSKENNOW KERNOW

Tyskennow Kernow is a feature-length DVD of short films made in Cornwall and about Cornwall including several in Cornish.

Tyskennow, meaning 'sheaves', was chosen as the title for the collection, and is an accurate description for the miscellany of ten films on the 104 minute DVD.

The selection has something for all the family to sit back and enjoy. There are slingers and threshers, troubled chefs, a tempting devil, a Cornish-speaking rabbit, nine hundred flags, two riotous old ladies telling dirty jokes, a plea for the liberation of Cornwall, and a piece of archive newsreel from 1964. The Cornish language films includes the winner of the 2006 Govynn Kernewek award, "An Jowl yn Agas Kegin"; the first-ever Cornish language animation for pre-school children, "Konin ha Pryv"; a contemporary re-telling of Nicholas Boson's "Daralla Jooan Choy an Horr"; and "Blight", a historical short featuring Richard Coyle and Mary Woodvine.
