BARRACKS OPE FALMOUTH

Barracks Ope,Falmouth

The beautiful headland of Trefusis can be glimpsed through this historic archway at the top of Falmouth's high street.

Built in the 17th century as the entrance to barracks used by a contingent of Royal Marines who were stationed in the Port, the Ope remains largely unchanged.Much of the barrack buildings have however been demolished to make way for residential development.
